The Town of Nahant is pleased to announce that the new Online Permitting Program. Please take a moment to read the instructions and help suggestions below. Please note, all Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Gas permits must now be applied for using this new online service. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. ONLINE PERMIT APPLICATIONS If you apply for your Permit online, It will be processed in less than one week (If you have provided correct information). If you apply in person, it could take up to 30 days. For Building Permits: 1. Fill out the Online Application and submit it. 2. Print a copy ONLY AFTER submitting your application online and use the special PRINT BUTTON provided by the software program 3. After printing a copy, please sign it 4. Obtain the required sign off's 5. Bring in the signed application along with all the plans and required info for review (Residential Permit Instructions, Commercial Permit Instructions) COMING SOON! For Plumbing, Electric and Gas: 1. Fill out the Online Application and submit it. 2. Print a copy ONLY AFTER submitting your application online and use the special PRINT BUTTON provided by the software program 3. After printing a copy, please sign it 4. Mail it to Town of Nahant, Inspectional Services Dept. Along with a check made out to the Town of Nahant. -
PERMITTING HELP The following instructions might be helpful, and can be printed. The first screen has a series of drop down boxes which need to be filled in. The first box allows you to select the "Street Name" of the address where the work is to be performed. Once the Street Name has been selected, please WAIT. The page will automatically refresh itself. Once it has refreshed (it takes a couple of seconds to refresh, depending on the speed of your connection), you can now click on the "Street No." box and select the actual house or property number from the drop down list which appears. Once the "Map No" has been selected, the page will again automatically refresh itself, and the remaining fields under the "Owner" will automatically be pre-filled by the software program. IF THE OWNER'S INFORMATION IS NOT CORRECT, PLEASE GO BACK TO THE BUTTON NEXT TO "Street Name" WHICH SAYS " No Street Address/ New Owner", CLICK ON IT AND MANUALLY ENTER YOUR INFORMATION. If you are a contractor, and working on behalf of the property owner, please enter your own name and telephone number and e-mail address under "APPLICANT/ AGENT" Now select the type of Permit you wish to apply for and click the "Next" button. This will take you to the application for the type of Permit you have selected. Please fill this in and submit. You will receive an email confirming the receipt of your application. BUT PLEASE REMEMBER: For Plumbing, Electric and Gas. Just follow these instructions: 1. Fill out the Online Application and submit it. 2. Print a copy and sign it. 3. Mail it to Town of Nahant, Inspections Dept. Along with a check made out to the Town of Nahant. For ALL other permits, Apply online and pick it up at Town Hall.
