Open Board and Committee Positions With The Town of Nahant
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee

The Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee is looking for a new member.

Meetings are held generally monthly at 7pm on a date agreeable to committee members. Recent meetings have been held via zoom.

The Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee was appointed in late May 2019 as a joint appointment by the Moderator and Board of Selectmen (pursuant to Article 29 of the 2014 Annual Town Meeting) and is tasked with, among other things, drafting a proposed updated Open Space and Recreation Plan for Nahant.

Such a plan must be approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Conservation Services pursuant to its guidelines. Towns are often required to have an approved plan in place in order to receive state grants and other funding. The Committee has reviewed prior Open Space and Recreation Plans prepared in 2000-2001, 2008 and 2016.

The Committee has become familiar with the open spaces and recreation spaces in Nahant and has requested CPA funds for maintenance and improvements at Bailey’s Hill that will be presented at the next Town Meeting. The Committee is currently working on the proposed Open Space and Recreation Plan using the 2008 Plan as its model, and in the coming months will continue its outreach to Nahant officials, committees and citizens regarding the proposed Plan.

If interested, please send a letter of interest and resume to ktaylor@nahant.org by Wednesday November 18, 2020 4 PM.
