Employment Opportunities With The Town of Nahant
The town of Nahant, population 3,500 seeks a dynamic and energetic candidate for the position of Town Administrator. Appointed by an elected three member Board of Selectmen, the Town Administrator is the chief administrative and finance officer of the town and is responsible for appointments, subject to the approval of the Selectmen. The incumbent is responsible for fiscal management, capital planning, collective bargaining, labor relations, public construction and procurement. The current operating budget for Nahant is approximately $14 million, and includes enterprise fund accounting for water, sewer, and trash removal. Education and experience requirements: at a minimum a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of professional experience in public administration and/or business in performing the duties set forth in the Town Administrator Act of 1992 (text of the Act is available on the Nahant Web site at:
Compensation $97,635 to $119,112 depending upon qualifications and experience. The position is open until filled. Current Interim Town Administrator is not a candidate for the position. Residency is not required. A search committee will be reviewing applications with a deadline of June 1, 2018. The position is expected to be filled after interviews with the Board of Selectmen, and will be open until signing of an employment contract anticipated to be in August of 2018. Department of Public Works Superintendent & Town Engineer
The Town of Nahant is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to fill the position of Public Works Superintendent and Town Engineer. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, fiscal management, operational administration, coordination of engineering services, and supervision of DPW operations. The Superintendent is responsible for all DPW functions including water, sewer, public ways, drainage, town owned property, cemetery, parks, beaches and sanitation, which is contracted out. The position requires formulation of long term goals, grant writing, submitting applications for (DES) permitting, and understanding of FEMA procedures pertaining to Public Works.
The Town of Nahant is a small seacoast peninsula community 10 miles north of Boston with a population of 3,500 residents and a FY18 budget of approximately $14M. The town has an enterprise accounting system for both water, sewer and trash. Nahant is embarking on several large water and sewer projects, and is looking for a candidate who enjoys a challenging opportunity.
